Virtual Panel: Fighting Back Against the ESG Backlash

Location: Virtual

Recently, there seems to have been a growing wave of media articles, opinion pieces, lobbyist statements, and legislative maneuvers aimed at debunking the belief that a focus on ESG is aligned with creation of investor value.  For those of us committed to sustainability in the investment sphere, this is both personally alarming and professionally challenging.  Our panel brings together experts representing a variety of sectors and a variety of financial approaches who are intermingling financial innovation and performance with ESG factors.  Through moderated discussion, these panelists will address critical questions many of us in the WISE NYC community may be facing:

  • How can the link between ESG and financial performance be quantified?

  • What examples exist to prove the inherent connection between business / market performance and a sustainability focus?

  • How can we – as bridgers of the sustainability and investment communities – more effectively define and integrate the concepts of ESG for investors, managers, allocators, legislators to not view them as “extra-financial”?

Speakers:

  • Elysabeth Alfano, CEO & Co-Founder @ Vegtech Invest

  • Stephanie Potter, ESG Specialist @ S&P Global

  • Allison Spector, Head of ESG @ One Rock Capital Partners

Moderated by: Lauren Winkler, Founder and Managing Partner of Library Ave Consulting and WISE NYC Chapter Co-Leader
